Needle Felted Country Sheep Workshop - 30th September 2023
Love wool? Then you will love needle felting!
Fibre artist Carla Taylor of The Mousehole Woolery will guide you step by step through the basic techniques of needle felting as well as sharing lots of tips and tricks that she has learnt over the last nine years in her own felting journey. The day will start off with a short walk around the beautiful Gutchpool Farm to see their beautiful flock of Dorset Down and Shetland and Poll Dorset sheep along with a discussion about the history of wool and needle felting. The Mousehole Woolery and Gutchpool Farm are both official supporters of the Campaign for wool and love to share their passion for British wool, showcasing the beauty, worth and diversity of this beautiful biodegradable and sustainable material and how it can be used.
Within the workshop Carla will discuss the equipment used within the therapeutic craft of needle felting and the variety of inspiring wools and fibres that can be used. There will be a selection of locally sourced fleece to create your own country sheep, including fleece from Gutchpool Farm's award winning Dorset Down flock and Shetland and Poll Dorset Sheep. By the end of the workshop you will have created your own country sheep out of beautiful wool ready for you to take home or, if you can part with them, to give to someone as a special gift.
This workshop is suitable for both beginners or those with some experience of needle felting and will include working around wire legs. The price of the workshop includes a lovely homemade lunch, tea and coffee, all materials and a needle felting kit, that you get to keep, take home and carry on creating with.
A fun, creative day with like minded people and a little time for yourself in beautiful inspiring surroundings!
The workshop will run from 10-5pm, please arrive at 9.45am dressed ready for our short walk around the beautiful farm which will start promptly at 10am, weather permitting.
